I want my child to be able to take their chromebook home. HOW?

Please view the document below to answer this and many other common questions.

    Chromebook FAQ Document HERE.

    Chromebooks Going Home!

On Monday August 26th we are going to begin allowing 4th and 5th grade students who took their chromebooks home last year to begin taking them home again.  Remember once they begin that students are to keep their chargers at home and our responsible for charging it each night.  3rd grade students will be allowed to take their chromebooks home starting Tuesday September 3rd.   If you would like your child to be able to take their chromebook home, please see the "Chromebook FAQ Document" linked above.

    Headphones (NON-bluetooth) needed!

Students need wired headphones for iReady, a new diagnostic platform we are using district-wide this year. If you are able to send headphones for your student, please put them in a Ziploc bag labeled with your student's name. We have some headphones already, but not enough for one-to-one, and are hoping to avoid purchasing extra this year with your help. If your teacher already included these on their wish list, please disregard. Ear buds are fine if that is the student's preference.

    After School Clubs!

Please click on the resources tab near the top of the page to find out about after school clubs that are available. Many are grade specific and some have additional requirements or commitments.    If your child is interested, find one that fits his or her grade and interests.

    Online Gradebook Access for Parents

The Focus Gradebook Parent Portal is available for use for parents and students in Escambia County, Florida.  “Parents and students will now have a tool in which to monitor success and will also be able to see where there needs to be improvement,” states Superintendent Malcolm Thomas.

Parents will see two links on the district web site under Parent Portal on the main page (www.escambia.k12.fl.us).  One link allows parents to register for the portal (note that all parents must register to the new Gradebook).  Parents will click on the link that reads “Focus Parent Portal Registration", then select "I do not have an account ….”.  Parents will be asked to provide the parent's name and email address.  Once this information is submitted, the parent will be asked to provide the following student information: the last four digits of the student's social security number, the six digit student identification number as assigned by the school district, and the student’s birthdate.  After registration is complete, a password will be assigned and can be changed after the initial login.  The username will be the parent’s email address.  Also, parents will be able to link multiple children in the household to their account.

The Focus Gradebook Parent Portal may then be accessed by providing the username (email address) and the password/passcode (as determined by the parent during the registration sign-in).  Parents will then be able to view their child’s class schedule, grades, and assignments for each class.

    New FSA Resources

The Florida Department of Education has provided family and parent resources related to the Florida Standards and the FSA (Florida Standards Assessment). The FSA is the test that replaced the FCAT in 2016. These resources are specifically for the English Language Arts (including reading) portion of the test. A link is provided below.
