Coffee with the Principal

Friday, October 20th 8:15am-9:15am

Our focus for this month's "Coffee" will be on our Partners in Education. Please come to mingle with and get to know the businesses who support our school and help us to provide the quality educational experience we have at N.B. Cook. We will have a partner signing ceremony to officially induct these businesses as partners for the 2017-18 school year. We will also have our open forum time where anyone may ask questions or provide input concerning our school. We are also excited to announce that select members of our school's chorus will provide entertainment for this event. We hope you'll join us. Please click on the following link to RSVP to this event:

New Student Safety Procedures

Parents are welcome to walk their children to class the first week of school. Beginning Wednesday, August 16, if you intend to walk your child to class, we ask that you stop by the front office to check in and receive a visitor pass.  Teachers will be stationed at each entry door to help direct you back to the front office to check in.  Once the tardy bell rings, parents will be asked to say good-bye in the front office.

All grade level performances during the school day will take place at 8:00 am this school year. Parents are always invited to attend these performances. This year, if you wish to attend, please enter the school via the front office.  If you have returned the RSVP sent by your teacher, there will be a badge awaiting you at the front desk.  Otherwise, you will be asked to sign in as a visitor and receive a badge.

All adults will be asked to present a photo ID upon entering the school’s campus, whether for check-in, check-out, volunteering, or visiting. Please have yours ready.

Class Lists Now Available!

See the links below to access 2017-2018 class lists. You must know your child's Escambia School District student number. Your child, first grade and above, should have used this number during the previous school year and may remember it. You may also find your child's student number on last year's report card or on the FOCUS electronic gradebook.

Welcome To Our New Principal!

While we are sad to say farewell to Mr. Cooey, who endeared himself to us in the short time he was here, we are also happy to welcome our new principal, Mr. Larry Knight. We are sure that     N.B. Cook will prosper under his guidance. Here is a bit of an introduction from him:

"I was born in Sacramento, California but moved to Pensacola when I was six years old. Growing up I attended Annie McMillan Elementary, P.K. Yonge Elementary, Brownsville Middle School and Pensacola High School. After high school I joined the United States Marine Corps. After my tenure in the USMC, I attended Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida where I received my degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Leadership.   I have been in involved in education for over 23 years. All of those years have been in Escambia County Schools. I served as a tutor at A.A. Dixon Elementary, a teacher at R.C. Lipscomb Elementary and an administrator at Cordova Park, O.J. Semmes and Sherwood Elementary I am married to Sharon Knight.  We have five adult children; Ian, Christopher, Josh, Kyle and Eric.  We also have three wonderful grandchildren; Dakoda, Gunner, and Daymin. In my spare time I like to spend time with my grandchildren, read, sing karaoke, cook, and watch TV. I am a huge superhero fan and can be often seen wearing superhero apparel."

Money Order Alert!

Effective immediately, Escambia Schools will not be accepting money orders purchased at Winn-Dixie stores. There has been a problem with money orders being returned marked "Return to Maker" and not paid. Somehow, the money orders have not been registered properly with Western Union. Until this problem is resolved, do not use money orders purchased at Winn-Dixie.
